Vera's Recipes is a growing digital archive of Vera Ruebush’s handwritten and clipped recipe cards — 25 categories, from appetizers to vegetables.

How it works

Each recipe begins as a scan of an original card. The cards are read and transcribed into a consistent, structured format so every recipe can be searched, read on any device, and printed onto a standard 3″×5″ or 4″×6″ recipe card that fits a real recipe box.

Some cards are faint or written in pencil. Where a card can’t yet be read with confidence, its recipe is marked transcription in progress rather than guessed — the original scan is always shown so nothing is lost.

Built to last

  • Fonts, icons and styles are self-hosted for speed and longevity — no third-party CDNs.
  • Light, dark and high-contrast themes, with full keyboard and screen-reader support.
  • Every page carries structured data so recipes are legible to search engines and AI assistants alike.

974 recipes transcribed so far, and counting.
