Method
- Always refrigerate or freeze food, whether warm or cold, right away for maximum freshness or flavor.
- When dark wood is scratched, rub a cut walnut meat on the scratch to restore color.
- Buttons stay on longer if their centers are coated with colorless nail polish. It seals the thread.
- A tablespoon of cooking oil or margarine added to boiling spaghetti or noodles will make the water less likely to boil over.
- When doubling a recipe, never double the salt. Use only about half again as much as the single recipe calls for.
- Turn down the heat immediately as soon as food begins to boil on top of the range. You'll cut fuel costs and food will retain its flavor and appearance without over-cooking.
