Ingredients

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 pkg Duncan Hines Deluxe Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pkg 4-serving-size chocolate instant pudding and pie filling mix
  • 6 oz 1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
  • powdered sugar

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Pour the oil into a 13- by 9- by 2-inch pan. Tilt the pan until the bottom is covered with oil. Add the remaining ingredients, except the powdered sugar, to the pan; stir with a fork or spoon until blended, about 2 minutes. Scrape the sides and spread the batter evenly in the pan.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes; the cake is done if a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan.
  4. Put a lace paper doily edge on the cooled cake. Sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar. Carefully remove the paper. Use a knife to loosen the cake from the sides, then cut and serve from the pan. Store any leftover cake loosely covered.
