Ingredients

  • 1 pkg 2-layer size yellow, white, or chocolate cake mix
  • 1 envelope do not whip, use right from envelope Dream Whip Whipped Topping Mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup cold tap water

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer until moistened. Beat at medium speed for 4 minutes.
  2. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube or Bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes for a tube pan or for 40 minutes for a Bundt pan. Cool in the pan 15 minutes; then remove from the pan and cool on a rack. Serve plain or frost with Fluffy Frosting.
  3. Fluffy Frosting: Combine in a deep narrow bowl 1 envelope Dream Whip, 1 package (any flavor, 4-serving size) Jell-O Instant Pudding, and 1 1/2 cups cold milk. Blend; then beat at high speed to soft peaks, 4 to 6 minutes. Makes 3 1/3 cups or enough for a 2-layer cake. Store the frosted cake in the refrigerator.

Notes

Alternate baking pans (cool these cakes in pans 10 minutes before removing): two 9-inch layer pans for 30 minutes; two 9x5-inch loaf pans about 45 minutes; three 8-inch layer pans about 35 minutes; one 13x9-inch pan for 40 to 45 minutes. For altitudes above 3,500 feet, add 2 tablespoons flour and use 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons water; bake at 375 degrees about 5 minutes less.
