Cinnamon Brownies
Ingredients
- ¾ cup baking cocoa
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ⅔ cup butter or margarine, melted, divided
- ½ cup boiling water
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- 1¾ tsp 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 6 tbsp frosting butter or margarine, softened
- ½ cup frosting baking cocoa
- 2⅔ cup frosting confectioners' sugar
- 1¼ tsp frosting; 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ⅓ cup frosting evaporated milk
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup melted butter. Add the boiling water; stir until well blended. Stir in the sugar, eggs and the remaining 1/3 cup butter. Add the flour, cinnamon and salt. Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Cool.
- For frosting, cream the butter, cocoa, confectioners' sugar and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Add the evaporated milk; beat until smooth and creamy. Frost the cooled brownies. Cut into squares.
