Ingredients

  • 4 medium grapefruit, peeled and cut up
  • 67⅝ oz 1 bottle lemon-lime carbonated beverage
  • ¼ cup sugar (optional)
  • 1 pt lime sherbet
  • 1 pt pineapple sherbet

Method

  1. In a blender container or food processor bowl place half of the cut-up grapefruit. Cover and blend or process till nearly smooth. Strain into a large bowl. Discard the pulp. Repeat with the remaining grapefruit.
  2. Add half of the carbonated beverage (about 4 cups) to the grapefruit juice. Stir in the sugar till dissolved. Pour into a 9x9x2-inch pan. Cover and freeze 4 to 5 hours or till nearly firm, stirring three times.
  3. At serving time, spoon the sherbet into a punch bowl. Spoon the grapefruit mixture into the punch bowl. Pour in the remaining carbonated beverage. Serve immediately.
