Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Pillsbury Plus White Cake Mix
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 cup water
  • ⅓ cup oil
  • 21 oz 1 can cherry fruit filling
  • whipped topping, if desired

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease and lightly flour a 13x9-inch pan. In a large mixer bowl, blend the first four ingredients until moistened. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed. Pour into the pan.
  2. Reserve 1 cup cherry fruit filling for topping. Spoon the remaining cherry fruit filling over the cake batter; gently swirl through the batter to marble.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool. Spread the reserved cherry fruit filling over the cake. Top with whipped topping if desired.

Notes

Makes 13x9-inch cake. High altitude (above 3500 feet): add 3 tablespoons flour to the dry cake mix; increase water to 1 1/4 cups; bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
