Appetizers
6 ingredients

Ingredients

  • 6 oz 1 package, 6 to 8 oz frozen crab
  • 8 oz 8 to 9 oz Camembert cheese
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 tbsp minced parsley
  • ¼ tsp dried basil, crushed
  • 1 loaf unsliced French bread, about 14 to 16 inches long

Method

  1. Thaw, drain and slice the crab. Remove the rind from the cheese and cut into chunks.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan; add cheese, parsley and basil. Cook over medium heat until blended, stirring constantly. Fold crab into the cheese mixture.
  3. Cut bread in half lengthwise; spread both sides with the crab-cheese mixture. Place on a baking sheet; broil 6 inches from heat about 5 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
  4. Cut in wedges to serve.

Notes

Makes about 2 1/2 dozen appetizer servings. May be prepared up to 24 hours in advance: spread bread with crab mixture, wrap in foil and refrigerate, then just before serving broil as directed.
