Ingredients

  • 1½ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup water
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ⅓ cup vinegar
  • 2 cup raw peanuts
  • 1½ tsp soda

Method

  1. Combine the sugar, water, syrup and vinegar. Cook over medium heat to hard crack, 300 degrees.
  2. Add the peanuts. Boil until brown and the peanuts pop or until very brittle in water.
  3. Remove from the heat; add the soda. Stir well and pour on a buttered slab. When cold, break into pieces.

Notes

Yield: about 2 pounds or 40 pieces. Prep time: about 30 minutes from start to finish. Calories: 80 per piece.
