Apple Cheese Nut Bread
Ingredients
- 3 cup flour
- 1½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
- ¾ cup cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup unpared apples, grated
Method
- Combine the dry ingredients and mix well with the pecans and cheese.
- Gradually beat the brown sugar with the eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in the buttermilk and apples and combine with the flour mixture just until moistened.
- Turn into a greased 9-by-5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour. Let stand 5 minutes in the pan before removing to cool on a rack.
Notes
Moist, nutty texture. Makes 1 loaf.
