Vegetables
Serves 6
10 ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 1 cup chopped fresh or frozen (thawed) broccoli
  • 1 cup about 4 oz shredded natural Swiss cheese
  • ½ can 3-oz size, 1 cup French fried onions
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cup whipping cream
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 425 degrees. Mix the baking mix and water until a soft dough forms; beat vigorously 20 strokes. Gently smooth the dough into a ball on a floured cloth-covered board. Knead 5 times. Roll the dough 2 inches larger than an inverted 9-inch pie plate. Ease into the plate; flute the edge if desired.
  2. Sprinkle the broccoli, cheese and onions in the crust. Beat the remaining ingredients with a hand beater; pour over the broccoli mixture. Bake 15 minutes.
  3. Reduce the oven temperature to 300 degrees. Bake until a knife inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Refrigerate any remaining quiche.
