Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 carton 8 ounce dairy sour cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp snipped parsley
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon-style mustard
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1½ lb lean ground beef
  • 1 pkg 3/4 ounce brown gravy mix

Method

  1. In a large bowl combine the eggs, 1/2 cup of the sour cream, and the milk; stir in the bread crumbs, onion, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Add the beef; mix thoroughly.
  2. Pat into a 9- by 5- by 3-inch loaf pan or shape into the same size loaf and place in a 12- by 7 1/2- by 2-inch baking dish. Bake, uncovered, in a 350-degree oven about 1 1/4 hours or until a meat thermometer inserted in the center of the loaf registers 170 degrees. Let cool 10 minutes; remove from the pan.
  3. Meanwhile, for the gravy, in a medium saucepan stir together the remaining sour cream and the dry gravy mix. Add water as called for on the package. Cook according to the package directions. Slice the meat loaf and serve with gravy.
