Ingredients

  • 2 cake compressed yeast
  • 1 cup milk, scalded
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • 4 cup Centennial Silk Sifted Flour

Method

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm milk. Add the remaining ingredients. Mix. Turn out on a floured board and knead into a smooth, elastic dough.
  2. Let rise until double in size. Punch down, cover and let rest 5 to 10 minutes. Shape into rolls. Let rise in the pan until light.
  3. Bake in a hot oven (425 degrees) 15 to 20 minutes.

Notes

This dough makes delicious cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, tea rings, etc.
