  • 6 cup sliced peeled apples
  • ½ cup maple-flavored syrup
  • ⅓ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup buttermilk baking mix
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ cup milk

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix the apples, syrup, raisins, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large bowl. Spread evenly in a 9-inch square baking pan; cover and bake 45 minutes.
  2. Combine the biscuit mix, sugar and milk; mix well. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto the hot fruit mixture. Bake, uncovered, 20 minutes or until the fruit mixture is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  3. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.

Notes

Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
