Chinese Morsels
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or a mixture of beef, lamb and pork)
- ½ cup onion, finely minced
- 2 egg whites
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sherry
- ¾ tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp sugar
- pepper to taste
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- 1 sliver fresh ginger or 1/4 tsp ground
- 15 wonton skins
- 2 tbsp oil
Method
- Blend together the first 10 ingredients. Spoon a small amount onto each wonton skin and fold diagonally over the filling. Moisten edges and pinch together tightly.
- Put on a plate and place on a rack in a steamer, a wok or a foil-covered roasting pan. Steam 20 minutes.
- Saute in hot oil in a skillet on one side only until the bottom is lightly browned. Serve with sauce.
- Sauce: Combine 1 teaspoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, 1/4 cup hot catsup and a dash of red pepper.
Notes
Look for wonton skins in the frozen food section. Makes 15.
