Hot Beef in a Bun
Ingredients
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 3 can 8 oz each tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp mustard
- ½ tsp Tabasco sauce
- 1 cup coarsely grated carrots
- 1 large green pepper, cut in thin strips
- 2 lb cooked beef, thinly sliced
- 12 Kaiser rolls or hamburger buns, split
- leaf lettuce
Method
- Combine the onion soup mix and tomato sauce in a large saucepan. Add the brown sugar, mustard and hot sauce; stir to blend.
- Add the carrots and green pepper; cover tightly and cook slowly for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the sliced beef and heat through. Place about 1/2 cup barbecue mixture on the bottom of each bun. Top with lettuce. Add the bun tops.
Notes
Serve for lunch or dinner. Makes 12 sandwiches. From Rosauers (Sandwiches SD-21).
