Oriental Steak Stir-Fry
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 6 tbsp oil, divided
- 1 tsp dry sherry
- ½ tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- 1 lb round steak, cut in thin strips
- 2 medium green peppers, cut in 1/2-inch strips
- 2 small onions, cut in wedges
- 2 small tomatoes, cut in wedges
- 1 tsp salt
- hot cooked rice
Method
- Combine the cornstarch, soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oil, sherry, sugar and ginger. Add the steak and toss to coat; set aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a skillet and stir-fry the green peppers and onion until crisp tender, 3-4 minutes. Remove from the skillet; set aside.
- Heat the remaining 3 tablespoons oil and stir-fry the steak mixture until well browned. Stir in the green pepper, onion mixture and tomatoes just to heat. Season with salt. Serve over hot rice.
