Sweet & Sour Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 green pepper, cut into 1/4-inch wide strips
- 1 red pepper, cut into 1/4-inch wide strips
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 can #1 can pineapple chunks
- 1 cup add water to make a cup; reserve 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- ¾ cup cider vinegar
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 slice fresh ginger, slivered
Method
- In a saucepan add 3/4 cup pineapple juice, sugar, vinegar and slivered fresh ginger. Stir over medium heat with a wooden spoon until the sugar is dissolved. Then bring to boiling point.
- Add the green pepper and onion, boil 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- In a small bowl mix and stir together the cornstarch, soy sauce and 1/4 cup reserved pineapple juice. Stir over medium heat until thickened and translucent (about 3 minutes).
- Add the pineapple chunks and cooked meat and heat through. Serve.
Notes
A sweet and sour sauce for serving over cooked meat.
