Ingredients

  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • ½ cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1½ cup milk, scalded
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup Wesson oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cup approximately flour

Method

  1. Combine the yeast, lukewarm water and 1 tablespoon sugar; let set about 10 minutes.
  2. Beat the eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, oil and salt. Add the scalded milk and the yeast mixture.
  3. Add the flour gradually until the right consistency to knead. Take out and sprinkle flour on the board; add the remaining flour as needed. Put in a greased bowl, cover with a towel. Let rise until double. It is now ready to use.
  4. Pinch off and make rolls. Let stand about 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees F 12 to 15 minutes.
  5. For cinnamon rolls: roll out the dough, spread with butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll up and slice. Let raise for about 1 hour. Bake.
