Yeast Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 pkg dry yeast
- ½ cup lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1½ cup milk, scalded
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup Wesson oil
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 5 cup approximately flour
Method
- Combine the yeast, lukewarm water and 1 tablespoon sugar; let set about 10 minutes.
- Beat the eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, oil and salt. Add the scalded milk and the yeast mixture.
- Add the flour gradually until the right consistency to knead. Take out and sprinkle flour on the board; add the remaining flour as needed. Put in a greased bowl, cover with a towel. Let rise until double. It is now ready to use.
- Pinch off and make rolls. Let stand about 45 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees F 12 to 15 minutes.
- For cinnamon rolls: roll out the dough, spread with butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll up and slice. Let raise for about 1 hour. Bake.
