Paprika Chicken
Ingredients
- 2¾ lb 2 1/2 to 3 lb broiler/fryer chicken, cut up
- ⅓ cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ cup shortening or oil
- ½ cup sliced onions
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp sour cream gravy flour
- ¼ tsp sour cream gravy salt
- ½ cup sour cream gravy milk
- ½ cup sour cream gravy sour cream
Method
- Coat the chicken with a mixture of the flour, salt and a dash of pepper. Brown in the shortening. Add the next 3 ingredients (onions, water and paprika). Cover tightly; simmer about 45 minutes. Remove the chicken pieces and keep hot. Serve with Sour Cream Gravy.
- Sour Cream Gravy: Blend 1 tablespoon flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt into the pan juices. Add 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup sour cream, stirring constantly till thickened and heated. Pour over the chicken.
